A very special destination halfway between the White Mountains and the Maine Coast

The Cottages at Oak Hill Farm
Cottages Oak Hill Farm
The rustic cedar board and batten cottages fit into the rural mountain landscape of Oak Hill Farm. Red metal roofs shed snow in winter and echo the raindrops on damp summer evenings. Each of the three cottages is named for the image on the front door: Bear Lodge, Wolf Lodge and Eagle Lodge. The 24' x 24' one-room cottages are carpeted and pine paneled with exposed beam cathedral ceilings. If you look closely you will see a plush chipmunk or carved woodpecker tucked into the rafters. The baths have ample four foot shower stalls. Each cottage is individually heated and cooled by overhead fans and air conditioning when necessary. There is no need to bring sheets or towels -- we provide it all. We have furnished and decorated each cottage as if we were preparing them for our own friends and family. There are antiques, artwork, a tall bookcase containing a diverse library, and a desk for aspiring authors or delinquent correspondents. TV reception is not very good here because of our position under the rim of the mountains, but there is a TV with a selection of VHS and DVD movies for all tastes. A coffee nook with a refrigerator and microwave allows guests to brew their own coffee (our own "One Morning In Maine" blend is provided) so you can rise and shine whenever the spirit moves you. Sip your coffee or tea on your private deck surrounded by the flora and fauna of Oak Hill with the sound of our babbling brook in the background. You are likely to see a deer or a flock of wild turkeys and little woodland creatures and birds abound. We know there are moose, bear, coyotes, fox and bob cats that move around our mountain but they keep to themselves. The animals come for wild blueberries in the summer and acorns in the fall. There is also a mountain pond near the top where all the animals come to drink and great grandfather frogs ribbit.

For those of you who have been daunted by the steep driveway and tight turn-around in front of the three lodges, you will be happy to hear that we are going to clear a level area in the woods beyond the cottages to make parking and turning easier. We are just waiting for the excavator to arrive! We are also drilling a brand new artesian well to supplement the current well and the gravity fed spring on the mountain.
